TRENTON — New Jersey officials have permanently revoked the license of a Monmouth County massage therapist accused of sexually inappropriate behavior with clients at two separate salons.
Evans W. Chigounis is barred for life from practicing massage therapy in New Jersey under a consent order filed June 10 with the state Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy.
Chigounis allegedly groped a woman during a massage session at Hand & Stone in Manalapan and, months later, placed his genitals in another client’s hand at A Kneaded Vacation Massage & Wellness in Red Bank.
Chigounis admitted to inappropriate conduct in the Manalapan case and was fired by both employers. The Board cited gross negligence, violation of professional conduct rules, and using his position for sexual gratification.
The consent order requires Chigounis to immediately stop practicing, cease all client contact, and never reapply for licensure in New Jersey.
The case was handled by the Division of Consumer Affairs and the Division of Law’s Professional Boards Prosecution Section.
