Manchester At The Golden Acorn’s ceremonial opening in the township’s Whiting neighborhood, it was time to cut the cake as well as the ribbon.
The new thrift store at the Whiting Town Center, 108 Lacey Road, Building A. Suite 27, was celebrated by Mayor Joseph Hankins, Council members James Vaccaro and Sandy Drake, and the mayor’s personal assistants Judy Noonan and Frank Nicalato.
The occasion, which included a huge cake with the store’s emblem, was attended by owner Deborah Sorce, her husband, a volunteer, and a number of volunteer staff members.
According to Sorce, we have everything from kitchenware and home décor to books, DVDs, jewelry, shoes, and accessories. In order to support her friend’s opening and Sorce’s son Carmen Jr. and his wife, the owner of The Book Mark store, which is also situated in the plaza, came out.
Councilwoman Drake stated, “We wish them all the best and it is always nice to see a new business come into town.”
After cutting the ribbon in front of the building with council members and store staff, Mayor Hankins gave the owner a plaque and cut the cake. We wish Deborah and Carmen the best of luck in their future endeavors, as well as the success of this new store.
