The county of Monmouth The Monmouth County Police Academy produced 90 recently sworn law enforcement officers.

In a ceremony held at Brookdale Community College on May 28, nine recruits from the 108th Basic Course for Police Officers, twenty-four recruits from the 44th Basic Course for County Correctional Police Officers, and fifty-seven recruits from the 59th Basic Course for Class II Special Law Enforcement Officers were certified by the Police Training Commission.

Being a member of law enforcement, which represents dedication to service, sacrifice, and solidarity, carries no greater responsibility. By persisting and successfully completing rigorous training that has equipped them to serve and defend our communities with honor and integrity, these wonderful men and women have proven that. Sheriff Shaun Golden, whose organization oversees the Monmouth County Police Academy, stated, “I’m proud of their accomplishments and commend all for a job well done.”

Through the Monmouth County Police Academy, both groups received over 800 hours of training over the course of 22 weeks. According to Golden, the Basic Course for Class II Special Law Enforcement Officers grants them full police authority while they are on duty.

In addition to a variety of other courses, all recruits receive instruction in patrol principles, defensive driving, professional growth, firearms and unarmed defense, criminal investigation, ethics, emergency medical treatment, and physical training.

The 14-week course taught the corrections class how to handle firearms, batons, handcuffing techniques, and mechanical restraints. It also included physical training and practice. They also received training in emergency medical response and unarmed self-defense. Law enforcement and ethics, stress management, processing evidence and contraband, inmate characteristics, and drug detection and interdiction were among the subjects covered in the classroom.

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome the newest graduates of our police academy to the Monmouth County law enforcement community. Raymond S. Santiago, the prosecutor for Monmouth County, stated. Knowing that they will need to gain the trust of the communities they will be serving, these officers have chosen to serve in the public sector. We have every expectation that they will rise to the occasion and serve their communities with dignity, honor, and pride.

Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone remarked, “I commend each Police Academy graduate for pursuing a career in law enforcement on behalf of the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners.” We applaud you for your incredibly honorable decision to serve and protect your community. I have no doubt that these graduates will carry on the longstanding tradition of Monmouth County having some of the best law enforcement officers in the state.
