OCEAN COUNY In conjunction with a 2024 investigation that resulted in the recovery of a stolen firearm, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer revealed that a man from Brick Township has entered a guilty plea to unauthorized possession of a handgun.
On June 27, 42-year-old Justin Holden pled before Superior Court Judge Kenneth T. Palmer. Prosecutors will suggest a five-year sentence in New Jersey State Prison with a 42-month parole ineligibility period at sentencing, which is set for August 22.
The allegations are the result of an investigation conducted by the Special Emergency Response Team of the Brick Township Police Department on February 27, 2024, which carried out court-authorized search warrants at Holden’s home on Rocky Mountain Boulevard and his car. Officers found hollow point ammunition and a Glock G43 9mm handgun.
The firearm was then found to have been reported stolen in Georgia by the authorities. Holden’s identity was added to the National Crime Information Center database and he was charged with a warrant.
On March 11, 2024, he was arrested and sent to the Ocean County Jail. Although he is currently being imprisoned at the county jail on an unrelated charge, he was later freed in accordance with New Jersey’s bail reform criteria.
Prosecutor Billhimer praised the work of the Brick Township Police Department and its Special Emergency Response Team in obtaining the guilty plea and gave appreciation to Assistant Prosecutors Genna Moscato and Alex Becker for managing the case.
