JACKSON: A man who was seen on camera trying to break into a house on Jackson Mills Road is being identified by police with the assistance of the public.

A homeowner was away when her Ring doorbell camera sent out a motion warning on the morning of Monday, June 30, according to the Jackson Police Department. In the video, a Black man who appeared to be in his early 30s was seen trying to unlock the house’s front door.

The suspect was dressed in blue Nike shorts, white sneakers, a navy blue Yankees cap, and a white shirt. When he handled the door, police observed that he covered his hand with his shirt, presumably to prevent fingerprints. On the right ring finger of the suspect, a characteristic ring covered in jewels was visible.

Surveillance footage from the back of the house showed the man entering the backyard through a gate before coming to the front door.

During the incident, a white sedan that was thought to be connected to the perpetrator was spotted parked on Jackson Mills Road. Nevertheless, no license plate could be seen in the video, and there was no other camera recording of the incident from nearby homes.
