BRICK With four concerts scheduled for successive Thursdays in July, the well-liked Summerfest Concert Series is about to get underway.

The free music and fireworks series, which takes place at Windward Beach Park on Princeton Avenue, is celebrating its 30th year.

At the council meeting on June 17, Mayor Lisa Crate talked about this year’s lineup, which includes British rock tribute band Brit Pack on July 10 and the iconic 70s arena band Super Trans Am, who will open the series on July 3.

Suit & Mai Tai, a yacht rock group, will play on July 17. Aftershock, a local Jersey Shore band, will play the last show on July 24.

Every concert will have a beer and wine garden, as well as a food court. The music starts about 7 p.m.

The free shuttle bus service will start operating at 5 p.m. from Drum Point Elementary School, Veterans Memorial Middle School, Midstreams Elementary School, Lanes Mill School, and Brick Township High School, and Mayor Crate urged the people to take advantage of it. The shuttle busses are allowed to have chairs and coolers.

James Ryan was reappointed as the township tax assessor for a four-year term starting July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2029, according to other news from the council meeting. Since former tax assessor Michael Kingsbury announced his retirement in August 2022, he has been in this role.

The County Board of Taxation is in charge of tax assessors, who are subject to New Jersey law. Every piece of property is subject to taxes, and the tax assessor is in charge of assigning a value to each one within their taxing district.

Since 2002, Ryan has been employed at the township tax assessor’s office.

The governing board approved the awarding of contracts for road improvements to a number of routes, including Vista Court, Olive Court, and North Lake Drive, during the same meeting.

Farmingdale’s Earle Asphalt Company won the $457,313 bid. According to Council Vice President Vincent Minichino, the project includes resurfacing the three roads as well as any necessary drainage and concrete upgrades.

Brick Township’s MUA water main upgrades to Olive Court will be part of this project, he added, in addition to the milling and overlay work. 81 potential bidders from our bidders list received bid notices. Four offers were received out of the seven required bid packages, with Earle Asphalt emerging as the least responsive and accountable bidder.

For the highway elevations of Channel Drive and Snake Road, the council also authorized the submission of a grant application and the completion of a grant contract with the State Department of Transportation 2026 Municipal Aid Program.

Both Snake Road, which is made up of Mandalay Road, Pilot Drive, Holley Avenue, and Knoll Crest Avenue, and Channel Drive, which is off Bay View Drive in Shore Acres, flood regularly.

Access to the road is frequently inaccessible during regular tidal cycles, and it serves as the main evacuation route for 142 homes.

Tuesday, July 15 at 7 p.m. is the date of the upcoming council meeting.
