NEPTUNE At the ShopRite complex in Neptune, where a fortunate New Jersey Lottery player won a $446,593 Jersey Cash 5 jackpot Tuesday night, lightning metaphorically struck for the second time in just over a year.
The liquor store that famously sold the $1.13 billion Mega Millions jackpot ticket in March 2024 is only a short distance from the ShopRite grocery store at 2202 Route 66, where the winning ticket was bought. The numbers that won on Tuesday were 03, 14, 23, 28, and 30. The Bullseye was 14 and the XTRA was 02.
The winner, a frequent lottery participant who makes weekly purchases at the store, expressed that they were surprised but not totally taken aback by the prize.
The winner added, “I told myself that I’m going to win the lottery very soon.” I have to exhale because I can’t breathe! I am unable to concentrate today.
If the winning ticket is sold, the shop will get a bonus of $2,000. Thus far this year, 34 Jersey Cash 5 jackpots have been won.
It’s not just Neptune’s ShopRite that has been winning big. Since 2020, the following other New Jersey retailers have won numerous significant awards:
White Oak Liquors, Belleville: $1.25M, $617K, and $4.9M (Pick-6, 2020) (Jersey Cash 5)
ShopRite of Spotswood, Middlesex County: Over $650,000 in two wins in May and June 2025
Luigi Market, South Toms River: $719K (Jersey Cash 5), $4M (Mega Millions, 2024)
Quick Mart, Clifton: $1M (Powerball), $1.75M (Jersey Cash 5)
Manalapan’s Soda King: $3.7 million (Pick-6), $1 million (2024)
Such recurring wins at single locations are uncommon but not unheard of, according to the New Jersey Lottery. Throughout the state, the lottery has partnerships with more than 6,500 merchants. The Jersey Cash 5 jackpot has a 1 in 1.2 million chance of winning.
