Comedian thinks he was cut from HBO show when it got less ‘woke’

Regarding his departure from the Sex and the City sequel, comedian Bobby Lee has a theory, and suddenly

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly on Thursday, July 24, Lee stated, “I believe I was a part of that, and they got rid of some of the woke elements of the show.” Sara Ramirez and a few other folks, I believe, did not return. I’m not sure why, but they attempted to include minorities. The show was never seen by me.

HBO Max has been contacted by NJ.com for comment.

In seasons one and two of And Just Like That, Lee portrayed Jackie Nee, Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) podcast cohost. The plot of Carrie’s podcast ended in season 2, and none of her coworkers, Che Diaz (Ramirez), Ali Stroker (Chloe), or Ivan Hernandez (Franklyn Silvias), returned for season 3. After season two, Karen Pittman, who portrayed Dr. Nya Wallace, also departed the program.

Lee admitted to being shocked to get the offer for AJLT in the first place, according to EW.

I have no idea why they inquired. And I was incredibly afraid to do it. Because, frankly, he argued, it wasn’t my brand. However, I succeeded. I managed to overcome my phobia.

In addition, Lee praised the show’s star, describing Parker as the kindest person he has ever encountered.

Hollywood Improv (@hollywoodimprov) shared this post.

He remembered how she put me at ease. Everybody on there is kind. It was enjoyable. I never harbor animosity toward anyone. Do you understand? I’m amiable. I arrive on schedule.

AJLT’s third season debuted in May. Alongside Parker, the spinoff features newcomers Sarita Choudhury (Seema Patel), Nicole Ari Parker (Lisa Todd Wexley), and Chris Jackson (Herbert Wexley), as well as former cast members Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes), Kristin Davis (Charlotte York), Mario Cantone (Anthony Marentino), Evan Handler (Harry Goldenblatt), and John Corbett (Aidan Shaw).
