Tom’s River After a multi-agency investigation, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer revealed that a 34-year-old male from Toms River has been charged with possessing evidence related to child sexual abuse.
Detectives carried out a court-authorized search warrant at Jeremey Howell’s home on July 24, leading to his arrest, according to police. According to Billhimer, the inquiry started when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent a cyber-tip regarding photos being posted online to the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Howell was identified as the suspect by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Squad after they linked the uploads to a residence in Toms River. According to Billhimer, a forensic analysis of his cellphone turned up numerous pieces of content related to child sexual assault.
Howell was taken into custody at the Ocean County Jail after being arrested at the Toms River Township Police Headquarters.
Billhimer acknowledged the efforts of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, the Toms River Township Police Department and Emergency Services Unit, and the New Jersey State Police ICAC Task Force.
