According to the CEO of the theme park, a 9-year-old passed away Thursday following an incident at Hersheypark’s Boardwalk.
After discovering the boy in trouble, Hersheypark lifeguards promptly saved his life, according to a late-night statement released by John Lawn, CEO of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company, on Thursday.
After being brought to Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, the kid passed away. It is currently unknown what caused the child’s death and how it happened.
First responders were called to the main first aid building at Hersheypark at approximately 6:45 p.m. for an incident involving a 9 or 10 year old, according to Dauphin County 911 dispatch files.
Late Thursday, a statement was uploaded to Hersheypark’s Facebook page:
We are deeply saddened for this child and their family. We offer our sincerest sympathies for their loss. According to the statement, we will not be disclosing any personal information at this time out of consideration for their privacy.
According to the statement, Hersheypark intends to carry out an extensive internal examination and will work closely with all authorities.
We request privacy for the family and our team members who are greatly impacted by this tragedy as we grieve with our community. According to the remarks, we will keep working to support all parties concerned and will give updates as needed.Please know that every decision we make at Hersheypark is based on your safety and wellbeing. We will conduct a comprehensive investigation into this incident and continue to prioritize guest safety at Hersheypark in remembrance of this little visitor.
The water park section of Derry Township’s amusement district is called the Boardwalk at Hersheypark. It has splash pads, a wave pool, water slides, and a lazy river.
