HEARTWORM PREVENTION IN PETS

To Heloise,I found out that my dog had heartworms when I took him to the veterinarian. Although my veterinarian advised that canines should be tested every year, my dog is currently taking medicine to eradicate the worms.

It seems that heartworms can also infect cats. However, this may be avoided! As my grandmother used to say, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” For additional information, visit HeartwormSociety.org or ask your veterinarian if your dog or cat needs to be taking heartworm medicine. — In Tulsa, Oklahoma, Connie

TEA MUGS CLEANING

To Heloise,We appreciate you sharing the reader’s idea to remove stains from tea mugs by combining bleach and multipurpose cleanser. Her hint worked flawlessly. I’ve owned my favorite mug for more than 30 years, and I’ve come to terms with the fact that it will always be discolored. I sprayed it and placed it in the dishwasher after taking your reader’s advice. It looked brand new after it was finished. Amazing!

OUTSIDE LIGHTS

Dear Heloise: Bring some solar lights inside the home and go into your front yard or backyard when the lights go out during a power outage. There is no risk of a fire or mess during the majority of the night. At 103, my mother-in-law was in awe. — Temecula, California’s Joe Mastro

SHOWER ADVICE

To Heloise,I’m an elderly man. After taking a shower, I’ve been having more and more trouble drying my back. It’s nearly impossible to get a towel back there because of my limited range of motion. However, I found a solution to this issue a few years ago:

My remedy is to lay down on my bed after putting on an enormous cotton bathrobe. Less than five minutes later, you’re completely dry. — by email, Bobby Allen

TEMPORARY RETIREMENT

To Heloise,In order to stay active and make a little extra cash after retiring from his full-time career, my handyman decided to take on a few days of odd jobs. When he got to his truck after coming to my house to replace my faucet, he discovered fifteen letters from persons in need of his services behind the wipers. It’s time to retire!
