Manchester According to officials, a two-vehicle collision on Route 70 claimed one life and injured four others.
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, Manchester Township police were called to the scene of a collision between a 2014 Dodge van and a 2017 Ford Sprinter van at approximately 8:15 a.m. on August 11.
The Ford van was turning left onto Hilltop Road when the Dodge van, which was carrying a driver and three passengers, struck it after crossing a double yellow line to overtake stopped traffic, according to investigators.
Three people in the front seat of the Dodge van were injured and sent to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. At the scene, a fourth passenger who was traveling in the cargo area was declared dead. The driver of the Ford van received minor medical attention at Toms River’s Community Medical Center.
The victim’s identity has not yet been made public.
The Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, Manchester police, and the prosecutor’s office are still looking into the crash.
