Some of the cast members of the upcoming Big Bang Theory spinoff, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, are reprising their roles from the original series.
Josh Brener and Ryan Cartwright will play Trevor and Kyle, respectively, on Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.
Both performers previously appeared on CBS’s 2007–2019 season of The Big Bang Theory. In episode 8 of season 6, Cartwright played Penny’s (Kaley Cuoco) classmate, while Brener had two appearances as Dale, a comic book store clerk, in episodes 10 of season 5 and 16.
Even some of the primary cast members of Stuart Fails to Save the Universe’s spinoff had minor roles in the original series, despite Cartwright and Brener being billed as recurrent characters. During the show’s 12-season run, John Ross Bowie (Barry Kripke) appeared in 25 episodes, Brian Posehn (Bert Kibbler) in 15, and Lauren Lapkus (Denise) in just eight.
With his appearances in 85 episodes, Kevin Sussman (Stuart Bloom), star of Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, had the most influence on The Big Bang Theory.
There will also be a new face in the next season. Gary, Denise’s boyfriend, will be portrayed by Tommy Walker.
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, as the title implies, chronicles the title character’s journey to bring reality back to earth after he inadvertently causes a multiverse Armageddon. After Stuart destroys a device created by Sheldon and Leonard, the founders of the Big Bang Theory, the cataclysmic issue starts.
Although Johnny Galecki (Leonard) and Jim Parsons (Sheldon) are not in the spinoff’s ensemble, they might make an unexpected appearance.

Following Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage (2024–present) and Young Sheldon (2017–2024), Stuart Fails to Save the Universe is the third spinoff of the Big Bang Theory.
The HBO Max series Stuart Fails to Save the Universe has not yet been given a launch date.
