According to authorities, a 30-year-old man passed away after being taken from the Pocono International Raceway’s Elements Music & Arts Festival to a nearby hospital.
The man has not yet been identified by the Monroe County Coroner’s Office.Police were informed that the person had been declared deceased at the hospital at noon on Monday, according to Pocono Mountain Regional Police Chief Chris Wagner.
According to Wagner, the inquiry is still open and ongoing.
The festival took place at the location at Blakeslee, Monroe County, over four days, from Friday to Monday. According to authorities, an estimated 27,500 people attended the event, which included games, crafts, and activities in addition to showcasing more than 100 performers on several stages each year.
Six people were taken into custody by police on Friday, primarily on drug possession charges involving narcotics such as cocaine, marijuana, THC, mushrooms, acid, and prescription medications. Four more people were arrested by police on Saturday, primarily for drug possession of prescription medications, marijuana, mushrooms, and acid.
On Friday and Saturday, almost a dozen persons were taken into custody for possessing prohibited narcotics with the intention of distributing them.
With the help of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Pocono Township Police, Pocono State Police, Stroud Area Regional Police, and detectives from the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, Pocono Mountain Regional Police coordinated the four-day law enforcement detail.
According to Wagner, the detail’s goal was to detect and reduce the use of harmful drugs in order to reduce the number of medical emergencies, dangerous drug overdoses, and state law infractions.
