According to authorities, a 41-year-old male was sentenced by a Lehigh County judge on Thursday to 20–40 years in state prison for the rape of two children.
According to court documents, Harry A. Chaney of Coplay entered a negotiated plea agreement on March 3 and pled guilty to two charges of child rape.
The remaining charges against Chaney have been dropped in return for the plea and to spare the victims from testifying, according to a news release from the office of Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan.
Chaney was given a prison sentence by Judge Thomas M. Caffrey. According to the announcement, Chaney has been designated as a sexually violent predator and will have to register under Pennsylvania’s Megan’s Law for the rest of his life.
Chaney was known to the victims, according to Holihan’s office. Chaney was under 13 years old, according to the initial slate of allegations against them.
The Lehigh County Child Advocacy Center contributed to the inquiry.
Detective Gregg M. Dietz, the district attorney for Lehigh County, conducted the investigation, while Chief Deputy District Attorney Sara A. Moyer handled the prosecution.
