The Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office issued a news release accusing two Allentown brothers of running a vast drug distribution network.

According to the announcement, police detained both individuals at their residences in Lehigh County on Thursday: Jeffrey Canales-Tapia, 37, resides in the 700 block of West Emaus Avenue, while Jefran Canales-Tapia, 40, resides in the 1100 block of East Tremont Street.

The two were taken into custody by the Lehigh County Warrant Service Team and the Allentown Police Department Emergency Response Team when they were executing search warrants, according to the office of District Attorney Gavin Holihan.

According to the announcement, among the items found during the search were nine kilograms of cocaine from the East Tremont Street residence, which is estimated to have a street value of over $500,000. Authorities said they seized a half-pound of marijuana and a significant quantity of cash from the residence on West Emaus Avenue.

On accusations of drug possession with intent to deliver, criminal conspiracy to possess narcotics with intent to deliver, and drug possession, both individuals were arraigned and taken to the Lehigh County Jail.

According to the announcement, police from the Lehigh County Drug Task Force and the Allentown Police Vice Unit collaborated on the investigation. Funding for the project came from the Office of National Drug Control Policy’s Liberty Mid-Atlantic High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area initiative.
