BARNEGAT On August 18, Nick Danbrowney, a professional player for the Bakersfield Train Robbers and a record-setting pitcher at Ramapo University, passed away in an automobile accident. His age was 23.

A native of Barnegat, Danbrowney led Ramapo University in strikeouts during his collegiate career, a record that coaches and teammates attributed to his talent, tenacity, and passion for the game. He played baseball professionally in California, where he was well-known for his vivacity and spirit of competition.
He was recalled by teammates and friends as gregarious, humorous, and a continuous source of optimism. According to a statement from the team, Nick had a way of making everyone laugh and transforming everyday situations into treasured memories.
