You might want to think about recycling any electronics that are lying around the house but aren’t being used.

Residents can do that at an event being held by the City of Easton.

On Saturday, September 13, from 9 to 11 a.m., the city will hold an electronics recycling event in collaboration with Responsible Recycling Services. A post on the city’s Facebook page states that event will be held at the Easton Recycling Center, located at 500 Bushkill Drive.

Only city dwellers are permitted to attend the event.

Some things are free for residents to recycle, such as:

  • Desktop and laptop computers

  • Keyboards and mice

  • Printers and fax machines

  • Cables and cords

  • Cell phone and laptop batteries

  • Calculators

  • Adding machines

  • UPS battery backups

  • DVD players, VCRs

  • Gaming systems

  • Audio-visual equipment

  • Microwaves

  • Small appliances

  • Toner and ink cartridges

  • Telephones and cell phones.

Before being dropped off, cell phone batteries should be taken out, according to the city.

There will be a cost for other electronics, which can only be paid with cash or a check.

  • Computer monitors for $20

  • TVs under 42 inches for $40

In Kutztown, Pennsylvania, there is a recycling service called RRS. According to its website, the organization offers recycling activities throughout eastern Pennsylvania with the goal of reducing landfill waste and conserving natural resources.
