American Littoral Society Names New Executive Director

JERSEY SHOREAfter Tim Dillingham headed the coastal conservation group for 23 years, Danielle McCulloch was named the new executive director of the American Littoral Society.

With almost twenty years of experience in coastal conservation, McCulloch started her career at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, where she concentrated on fisheries and oyster reef restoration. She oversaw recovery efforts and resilience policy work for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in New Jersey following Hurricane Sandy. She then oversaw habitat restoration and collaborations through the agency’s Coastal Program. She has won the organization’s Strategic Conservation Award twice.

“I am privileged to be a part of this exceptional group and to continue the outstanding legacy of Tim Dillingham and Dery Bennett,” McCulloch stated. In order for our coasts to continue to be places of beauty, protection, and life for future generations, I am committed to leading the Society to solve the issues that arise where land, water, and community come together.

The Littoral Society was established in 1961 and has been a pioneer in the conservation and preservation of the shoreline. The Society’s objective will be furthered by McCulloch’s combination of research, policy, and hands-on conservation work, according to Board President Tally Blumberg.
