Greetings, Abby There are four girlfriends in my group. Every birthday, we get together and take the birthday girl out to supper at a place of her choosing. But one of the group’s girls orders a number of pricey cocktails, and the total amount ends up being enormous. It appears like she doesn’t care about the measure.
This friend’s birthday is quickly approaching, and she has selected an expensive restaurant where four people will need to pay at least $900. I’m afraid to consider it. Do we simply say nothing at all, or how can we politely tell her that she has gone too far? — IN MIAMI, FLA, TOO MUCH.
TOO MUCH: We advise the birthday lady to choose a different restaurant that will fit within their budgets because the one she chose will be more expensive than any of you can afford. Forego the cocktails and order a bottle of wine instead.
