Greetings, Miss Manners For over thirty years, we have been acquainted with a couple. They have seen our children grow into adults, and we have seen theirs become beautiful young women. Although we are close to the spouse, we are not as close to their kids.
Their youngest daughter was married in a tiny, private ceremony in their backyard during COVID-19. There were just perhaps fifteen persons present. Despite not being invited to their wedding, we sent their daughter and her new husband a cash wedding present because we are good friends. The present was unnoticed by the daughter and her new spouse.
Let’s go ahead to the present: We have been invited to their wedding party. Do we provide another present, I wonder?
PERSONAL READER: You already gave this couple a wedding gift, and they have been married for three years. Miss Manners is unaware that a You’re Still Married present is necessary.
Nevertheless, you might want to go above and beyond since you love the parents so much and remember the daughter as a child in such a positive way. Giving a gift is not required, but it is also not prohibited.
