Enable: The Disability Podcast tells the inspiring tales of remarkable individuals with various disabilities and abilities.
Enable co-hosts Geoff Deaf in Episode 2.Alexis and MJ talk with Geoff Herbert and Kurt Hower about their experiences as caregivers, the difficulties they’ve encountered caring for elderly parents or disabled children, the resources available to them, and the value of self-care.
MJ stated, “I was attempting to be She-Ra, Princess of Power, and manage it independently.” Because caregivers frequently neglect their own needs, please make time for yourself.
Alexis said, “There are ups and downs.” We suffer greatly from loneliness since few people are equipped to handle the difficult circumstances we are going through.
Enable: Every week, new episodes of The Disability Podcast will be posted on YouTube and all of the main podcast platforms, including as Spotify, Apple, Amazon, and iHeartRadio.

About the hosts
Geoff Herbert has been with Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard for 15 years as a reporter, SEO Lead, and content supervisor. He has 25 years of experience as a DJ, including 10 years in radio (as DeafGeoff) and 10 years as a wedding DJ in Upstate New York, despite being primarily deaf in both ears. He adopted assistive technologies such as closed captioning/subtitles, video calls, and visual waveforms in music programs after learning how to interact orally through speech therapy, lipreading, and hearing aids.
With more than 35 years of experience at Advance Local, Kurt Hower is a community and media leader. In addition to serving on numerous boards, such as the Central PA Chapter Arthritis Foundation Board of Directors, where he was Chairman of Board Development and a member of the Public Policy and Advocacy Committee, he has been actively involved in spearheading change as the print industry has continued to undergo rapid change. He exhorts people to put less emphasis on their difficulties and more on what they can offer society.
