Some viewers were offended by Kirk Detweiler’s behavior in the Amy Bradley Is Missing Netflix documentary.
Amy vanished off the ship in March 1998 while Detweiler was serving as the director of the Rhapsody of the Seas cruise.
In the first episode of the documentary series, Detweiler described the cruise director as the face of the ship. I have a soft spot for elderly women. I would accompany the elderly women to dance.
For more than 20 years, Detwiler was employed by Royal Caribbean International. He is the Executive Director of the Marion Palace Theatre in Marion, Ohio, as of 2021.
At the age of 15, I made my stage debut at the Palace in the 1977 Oliver! performance, Detweiler told the local Ohio news station WKTN in 2021. Being able to serve as the Executive Director of Marion’s Palace Theatre is an incredible opportunity.
From 1985 until 2020, Detweiler was employed in the cruise industry, first as a performer and then as a cruise director. Before accepting the position at the Palace Theatre, he worked as the Entertainment Director for a resort on St. Maarten during the COVID-19 outbreak.
According to Detweiler in Amy Bradley Is Missing, he had vivid memories of Amy’s cruise. In addition to stopping in Aruba, Cura ao, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas, the ship sailed from San Juan, Puerto Rico. As the ship got closer to the pier at Cura ao, Amy’s family realized she was gone.

Why Kirk Detweiler is receiving backlash for Amy Bradley Is Missing
Amy’s family asked the cruise staff to prevent other passengers from disembarking until Amy was found, but they didn’t do so.
Even though there was a tragic incident involving one family, 2,400 people nonetheless made significant financial contributions. According to Detweiler in Amy Bradley Is Missing, that is the reality, no matter how cold it seems.
It was almost impossible to tell whether Amy jumped or fell from the ship before it docked or departed when it arrived at Cura ao because the search for her was delayed. Although there are still no conclusive answers, it’s probable that she encountered foul play, either on or off the ship.
Despite the fact that Amy’s body was never located, Detweiler believes she fell or jumped from the ship. With their thoughts that Amy is still alive someplace, he accused Amy’s brother Brad Bradley and parents Ron and Iva Bradley of being clinging to hope and avoiding reality.
Detweiler also stood up for Alistir Douglas, the bassist for Rhapsody of the Seas, who some believe was responsible for Amy’s abduction.
Regarding Douglas, whom he referred to as a wonderful person, Detweiler said, “He was in the wrong place, wrong time, dancing with the wrong girl.”

Detweiler appeared insensitive to several Amy Bradley Is Missing viewers during the documentary series.
The cruise director Kirk Detweiler is a true genius. One individual commented on Reddit, “Dude paints the perfect picture how it’s profit over people the entire time [he’s] interviewed.”
Others commented that Detweilers were extremely off-putting, cold-hearted, and unsympathetic. Viewers criticized Detweiler on X for being vile, indifferent, and heartless.
Others justified Detweiler’s refusal to wait for passengers to be released from the ship in Cura ao. One Reddit user pointed out that Amy wasn’t a child and had only been gone for an hour.
