Driver killed in 2nd deadly Route 309 crash this week (UPDATE)

Arthur Lalor, 80, of Kings Park, New York, is identified as the driver killed in Tuesday’s crash at Routes 309 and 895 in West Penn Township, Schuylkill County, according to a news release from the Carbon County Coroner’s Office; Lalor died of multiple blunt force trauma due to the crash, and the death was ruled an accident.

An 80-year-old man died of his injuries from a two-vehicle crash Tuesday in Schuylkill County, authorities said.

The victim was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Carbon Campus in Mahoning Township, Carbon County, where he was pronounced dead, according to a news release from the Carbon County Coroner’s Office.

The man was the driver of one of the vehicles involved, Chief Deputy Coroner Jason T. Smith said in the release. Investigators were withholding public release of his name, pending notification of his family and to give them time to grieve privately, Smith said.

Two others suffered minor injuries

in the crash shortly before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, WFMZ-TV 69 reported.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Routes 309 and 895 in West Penn Township. That’s about six miles north of the

crash just after midnight Sunday that killed a 36-year-old Carbon County woman

at the intersection of Route 309 and Mosserville/Mountain Road in Lynn Township, Lehigh County.

Tuesday’s crash remains under investigation by the Carbon County Coroner’s Office, West Penn Township police and Pennsylvania State Police.
