On Friday, the Lehigh Valley will experience somewhat drier and colder weather due to a cold front passing across the area.
However, temperatures are expected to approach 90 degrees under sunny skies as high pressure moves in behind it.
Dispersed afternoon thunderstorms are possible throughout the area. Particularly in locations west of Philadelphia, residents should be ready for possible quick, localized heavy rains.
With a 20ā30% chance of precipitation, the National Weather Service predicts that Friday afternoon will see the development of scattered thunderstorms. Although widespread severe weather is not anticipated, there is a chance of heavy rain, particularly in the vicinity of Chester County. Throughout Friday and into the night, light and variable winds will move from the northeast to the southeast.
With highs in the mid to upper 80s and surface dew points in the upper 60s to low 70s, Saturday will carry on the current warm and humid trend. The threat of severe weather is still low, but there is a chance of a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms, mostly north and west of Philadelphia. The temperature will drop to the mid-60s to about 70 degrees over night.
As a cold front moves in from the west on Sunday, temperatures will once more surpass 90 degrees. There is still little likelihood of thunderstorms, with a 20ā30% chance of precipitation. Temperatures and humidity will somewhat decrease as drier air starts to move into the area by Sunday night.
A more consistent weather pattern is predicted for the beginning of next week, with reduced humidity and cooler temperatures in the upper 70s to about 80 degrees. As weather systems pass through the region, thunderstorms and scattered showers might form Tuesday evening through Thursday.
Local weather updates should be followed by residents, and they should be ready for any brief thunderstorm activity, especially in the afternoon.
