Lakewood According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, a township man was charged with endangering the welfare of a child after officers discovered his 2-year-old son unaccompanied in a hot, locked parked car outside the Lakewood Township officers Department.
According to authorities, the toddler was inside the non-running Lakewood police car when the officer unloaded it at approximately 3:15 p.m. on July 29. The boy was taken out by the officer using a lock-out tool, treated by Lakewood First Aid, and sent to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, where he received treatment before being discharged.
According to an investigation, Simcha Feldman, 34, the child’s father, had left the boy alone in the car for about twenty-four minutes. Feldman returned to the vehicle without incident and was placed under arrest at the Ocean County Jail.
Billhimer acknowledged the efforts of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, the Lakewood Township Police Department, and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.
