Netflix promoted this show as a limited series, but it’s getting a 2nd season

Published On:

Originally marketed as a limited series, Netflix’s murder mystery Untamed has now been renewed for a second season.

A self-contained narrative with a beginning, middle, and end, Season 1 debuted on July 17. Untamed’s limited series status raised the possibility that it was an anomaly.

But the popularity of the show—it received 24.6 million views in its first week—and the cast’s remarks that they wanted to return gave viewers optimism for season 2. And such aspirations weren’t unfounded.

Season 1 actor Eric Bana told Variety on Tuesday, July 29 that he was “ecstatic that we have the opportunity to bring another season of Untamed to life.” The amazing work put forth by our crew to create something genuinely unique has been demonstrated by the response to season 1.

Warning: Untamed season 1 spoilers ahead.

Bana portrays Yosemite National Park’s Kyle Turner, a special agent with the National Park Service’s Investigative Services Branch (ISB). Viewers discovered during season 1 that Kyle and his ex-wife Jill (Rosemarie DeWitt) had a little son named Caleb who had been kidnapped and killed in the park a number of years earlier.

Kyle, who is still grieving over the death of his kid, loses himself in his cases. The most recent one concerns Lucy Cook (Ezra Franky), whose body falls from Yosemite’s El Capitan.

After a number of detours, Kyle discovers that Lucy’s real father was actually Chief Park Ranger Paul Souter (Sam Neill), his buddy and mentor. After Lucy continually blackmailed him for money, Paul admits that he shot her before killing himself.

At the end of season 1, Kyle feels prepared to leave Yosemite behind after resolving Lucy’s case. Before he drives off to his next chapter, he offers his companion Naya Vasquez (Lily Santiago) a box of Caleb’s old toys for her son.

What will season 2 of Untamed be about?

Season 2 of Untamed is probably going to follow Kyle to his next mission at another national park, even if no story elements have been disclosed yet. Once there, he’ll most likely unravel another mystery.

Lily Santiago (@lily_santiago) shared this post.

I am very excited to accompany Kyle on his next adventure. In a statement, Bana thanked Warner Bros. Television, John Wells Productions, Netflix, and our fans.

Although it’s uncertain if DeWitt and Vasquez, two season 1 stars, will return for season 2, Vasquez is undoubtedly interested.

I am anticipating the call. Like, “Find me on the mountaintop horse.” Earlier this month, she told Us Weekly, “I’m ready to go.”

Netflix offers the first season of Untamed for streaming.
