Berkeley According to authorities, Berkeley Township Police officers used drones and ATVs to hunt for two hikers who got lost in the Dover Forge woods on Saturday and were able to locate them safely.
According to police, a lady called the department at 2:20 p.m. on August 16 to say that she and a guy had gone into the forested area at around 9 a.m. and were unable to find their way back to their car.
According to police, Sgt. Houle, Patrolmen Shan, and Slocum initiated a search operation, assisted by Patrolmen DeDeyn, Scaturro, and Bondulich from the Police Drone Unit and Sgt. Flanegan and Patrolman Bondulich from the ATV Unit.
About two and a half hours later, at 5:15 p.m., a drone discovered the two people 150 yards from a creek, according to the police. Both hikers were successful in reaching authorities by following the drone’s instructions.
After being assessed on the spot by Berkeley Township EMS, the couple was released without suffering any injuries.
