BARNEGAT Four people were observed trying to get into open cars in the township’s Timbers and Settlers neighborhoods early on Wednesday morning, prompting authorities to look into suspicious nocturnal activities.
The individuals were seen attempting to enter parked cars between midnight and two in the morning, according to the Barnegat Township Police Department. Local residents are being asked by the police to check their home security footage for any unusual behavior during that period.
One of the suspects’ screenshots has been made public. Detective Armstrong is asking anyone who may have taken pictures or videos that could help with the investigation to submit the footage to [email protected].
In order to help prevent crimes of opportunity, officials also encouraged locals to lock their cars and take valuables out of them.
