Manchester Manchester Township Police reported that a Jeep flipped in a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Broadway Boulevard and Burnside Street, resulting in the airlifting of two individuals to a trauma facility.

When officers arrived on the scene on July 6 at around 8:38 p.m., they discovered a blue 2021 Jeep Cherokee on the front yard of a house in the 1400 block of Broadway Boulevard, heavily damaged and resting on its passenger side. There was also a gray 2015 Toyota Camry near the junction with serious front-end damage.

According to police, the Jeep, driven by Brick resident Briana Rodriguez, 23, struck the Camry, which was going east on Broadway, after failing to stop at a stop sign while driving south on Burnside Street. The Jeep overturned due to the accident.

Emergency personnel freed Rodriguez and her companion, Brick resident Anthony Fernandez, age 21, and took them to Jersey Shore University Medical Center via Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health’s LifeFlight chopper. Both are listed in stable condition for now.

The Camry’s driver, Toms River resident Jun-Jun Zheng, 38, was unharmed.

Priced Rite Towing, Ridgeway and Manchester Fire Companies, Robert Wood Johnson paramedics, Toms River EMS, and emergency officials from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services provided assistance at the incident.

According to police, Patrolman Brendan Brush of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit is still investigating the incident, which appears to have been caused mostly by the Jeep driver’s refusal to heed the stop sign.
