E! News reported on December 9, 2022, that Taylor Swift is making her directing debut in a future film from Searchlight Pictures, marking a larger foray into the film industry.
Screenwriter Alice Birch was speculated to be joining Swift’s cinematic project following the initial announcement.
On August 8, however, E! News revealed that Taylor Swift is the sole contributor to the project.
Although no further information regarding the movie project has been disclosed other from that update, we are aware that Swifties will be eager to hear any new information.
David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield, presidents of Searchlight, expressed their excitement about Taylor Swift working on a movie for their studio.
According to a press release, Taylor is a once-in-a-generation artist and storyteller. Working with her as she sets out on this novel and exciting creative path is a true pleasure and honor.
Fans have started speculating that the movie would be based on the song The Last Great American Dynasty from her popular 2020 album Folklore or it might reflect the love triangle she sings about between three characters in her song Betty.
Swift is accustomed to directing her own films, even though this would be her first foray into the feature-length film industry.
Several of her music videos, including the 10-minute smash All Too Well: The Short Film, were directed by her. Sadie Sink and Dylan O. Brien starred in the short film, which was shown at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2022.
“This is not a music video; we approached everything differently,” Swift said, “so I think I gave myself permission to completely jump into making that jump into making a narrative short film.” You know, the choices that were made to develop these characters and immerse themselves in this universe, even the 35 millimeter photography.
Swifties will therefore likely be more successful with new music than a movie anytime soon, as there is currently no word about her impending feature picture.
